Aim at heaven, and you will get earth thrown in; aim at earth, and you will get neither. ~ CS Lewis

During the past several years, Zion has had the honor and privilege to welcome and support the local members of the Veteran’s History Project. Veteran’s, either Retired or Active, that wish to share their story should contact the Atlantic County Historical Society at 609-927-5218. They would love to hear from as many Veteran’s as they can! For more information, click here.

The following is a letter recently received from the local Veterans History Project Chairperson, Sheryl Collins:

Since 2007 the Atlantic County Historical Society has partnered with The Veterans History Project through the Library of Congress to interview Veterans of all eras and branches of service about their service related histories.

Three times a year for approximately the last five years, Zion United Methodist Church has provided rooms in their church hall for Veteran interviews and for the VHP annual Meet ‘n Greet program, held the first Saturday in November prior to Veterans Day. At that time all Veterans interviewed during the year are invited to gather together to again meet their interviewer and convene with fellow Veterans. During the program each Veteran is presented with a copy of their CD interview that has already been sent to the Library of Congress/Folklife Division.

The ACHS Veterans History Project Team considers ZUMC a part of our “Team”. Over the years, through the cooperation of Pastor David Schumacher; a Veteran who has been interviewed, Ralph Larned and church secretary Lillie Freeman they have made our Veterans outreach and interview process run smoothly and with dignity.

God Bless America!
